Hi, I’m Ezzy Hassan
and through my own childhood adversity, I have found a real passion for becoming a Psychotherapist which has included experiencing therapy myself. Feeling safe for me took time in therapy and this is something I make space for when working with clients.
I have worked within children and young people services for the past 15 years and some of my roles have included: Foster Carer, Family Support Worker, SHOUT text crisis service volunteer, Assessment Officer for a Psychotherapy Service and a Drug and Alcohol Young Peoples Treatment Practitioner. Lets just say finding my own sense of belonging included a number of chapters.
I currently offer face to face sessions for those aged 16 upwards as well as Couples Therapy. Discounted rates are available for Trainee Counsellors and although my preference is to work face to face, I do offer online and walk and talk sessions however Couples Therapy is face to face only.
I have a relational approach that is nurturing, honest and validating and if you are open to it, creative (think sand play, buttons and figures).
I am a Mum who has had experience of the fostering and adoption process as well as growing up experiencing cultural diversity and parental mental health.
I am a Level 7 Psychotherapist working within the modality of Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a form of psychology that encourages personal growth and makes space for your own wellbeing. TA enables us to understand our personality, relationships and how we communicate with others so that we can understand behaviour. I see my approach as integrative and will work with my clients to incorporate other approaches as and when needed.
Often I am asked what a Psychotherapist is and in a nutshell it means I have completed my own in-depth personal therapy and attend regular Clinical Supervision, as well as completing four years of training. Professional development is ongoing as I believe there is always room for exploring different ways of working, so I am often accessing further training to hook into this.
Within our work together we will explore the whole self (thoughts, feelings, behaviours) in relation to our own lived experiences and at times unconscious processes with a view to changing those areas within yourself that trouble you or leave you feeling stuck, low and/or anxious.
I understand the importance of feeling seen and heard especially when we are stuck in survival mode which can often leave us at the bottom of the priority list. You may find yourself struggling to say no, rescuing others and/or attempting to please others as a way to feel good enough. By the way, you already are good enough, it’s just that life can be really hard, overwhelming, isolating and at times scary.
I wholeheartedly believe everyone could benefit from therapy.
To those I have already had the honour of sitting alongside, hearing that you feel seen and heard is all that I could wish for, you deserve nothing less.
